As many of you know on Nov. 12, 2014, at 1 AM, there was a fire at the Hotel Jeffery, in Coulterville.  There was a lot of fire damage and a huge amount of water damage to the hotel. Since then the lathe and plaster (sheet rock) walls have been all removed and the building dried out.  One can literally look through the studs of six rooms.  Ms Zahn has plans to make fewer individual room and more suites that will include bathrooms and individual heat/air units.  The Magnolia Saloon has electricity in it and has under gone a complete detailed cleaning.  In going thru the hotel it was interesting to see the adobe walls, rough sawn wood, square nails, lath and plaster walls and knob and tube wiring.

The historic hotel was one of the major employers of northern Mariposa County.  The fire will have a huge economic effect on the community for it helped draw many tourists to the Coulterville area.  The Hotel Jeffery is the hub of the historic community. 

 It is very important to get the Hotel Jeffery renovated as quickly as possible.  The insurance will not cover the complete restoration project.  We need YOUR help to do this.  There has been a Go Fund Me account set up at www.gofundme.com/hegno4 and also a bank account at Yosemite Bank, Fund for Hotel Jeffery Restoration Project, PO Box 610, Groveland, CA 95321.  One hundred per cent of these funds will be used for the restoration of the historical Hotel Jeffery. 

There will be an auction /dinner fundraiser May 30, 2015 in the Coulterville Park for the restoration project.
