SST LTRAugust 23, 2020 - Though I have not yet seen all of the mathematics required to fund a brand new hospital, I can say that I will vote for the J.C. Fremont Hospital 1% Sales Tax Increase if it's deemed absolutely necessary. The bottom line is that we need a new hospital to serve the needs of the community. Though I am always concerned about government spending being either unnecessary or being overpaid to political-donor-contractors, I understand that a new hospital is long overdue. To me, it's not a matter of can we afford it, it's a matter of can we afford to be without a modern, safe county hospital? Paying taxes is not only patriotic, taxes are quite simply the admission fee for living in a safe and civil society.

Many Mariposans (including myself) who've had no children in Mariposa schools voted for the MCUSD bond measures that increased our own property taxes simply because it was the right thing to do.

Let us look closely at all of the available hospital funding information before rushing to judgement and yelling "Taxed Enough Already!". Perhaps we should instead be yelling "Jobs, jobs, jobs!"

Be a patriot.
