April 9, 2019 - Caltrans' construction partners are trimming and at times removing entire trees on State Route 140 in the area of the Ferguson Fire scar in Mariposa County as part of a larger rehabilitation project.

Removing these potentially hazardous trees, branches, and other vegetation, avoids potential issues like the trees falling onto the roadway during rainstorm.

Certain trees, like the one below, may not be an obvious issue but are hollowed out in the back and present a risk down the road. Water and insects can find their way into hollowed out tree trunks like this an ruin the entire trunk eventually.

This project, which also includes replacing and upgrading culverts (underground drainage systems) and mitigating roadside slopes, is set to conclude by the end of this month.

Thanks to all for their patience, support, and cooperation during this process.
