March 15, 2024 - El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office officials report that this week Sheriff’s Office Detectives with assistance from the Folsom Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team and the Target Corporation team of Loss Prevention Officers conducted a Blitz Operation at the Target store in El Dorado Hills. Blitz Operations consist of undercover surveillance in and outside the store during normal business hours.

The focus of these types of operations is to thwart Organized Retail Crime (ORC). Commonly, suspects who participate in ORC theft activities victimize not just El Dorado County retailers, but our friends in Folsom. During the operation, six people were contacted resulting in four people being issued misdemeanor criminal citations for offenses to include petty theft, fraud, and trespassing.

Additionally, Detectives located a missing runaway juvenile, and he was safely reunited with his family. Due to the nature of these cases further investigation may lead to more charges. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit would like to thank our partners at Folsom Police Department and Target Corporation for their corroboration and assistance with keeping our communities safe.
