March 15, 2024 - MARIPOSA, CA – Spring is a great time for pile burning! Pile burning is a safe, effective, and legal way 
to reduce your wildfire risk when equipped with the tools and knowledge to do so. Yosemite Gateway Prescribed Burn Cooperative (YGPBC) and University of California Cooperative Extension are organizing a Learn & Burn workshop on residential pile burning to promote the increased use of this practice for private landowners.
The learn and burn workshop is scheduled on Saturday, March 30th from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. During this one-day workshop, we will work with private contractor and owner of Lepley Trees, Brook Allen, to learn how to construct and burn 4ft x 4ft piles of combustible or flammable vegetative material. Topics will include permitting, what can be burned, when to burn, alternatives to burning, and other requirements. We will then work together to assist a private landowner in Mariposa County by burning previously constructed piles. To register, please visit https://bit.ly/PileLearnandBurn.
