September 3, 2016 - The California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (CDFW) Advanced Hunter Education Program will offer a waterfowl hunting clinic on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge in Merced County. 

The clinic is being taught by Lt. Shawn Olague of CDFW’s Hunter Education Program. Lt. Olague is a lifelong waterfowl hunter with years of experience hunting in the Grasslands area. Participants of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, are encouraged to attend. The clinic will cover the basics of hunting waterfowl, with the goal of developing ethical, conservation-minded hunters.

Topics will include duck calling, hunter safety, decoy placement, blind design, ballistics, game care, hunting on state and federal waterfowl management areas and regulations.

The clinic is free to registered attendees. The clinic hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and space is limited to 35 people, so please register early. To register or for more information, please visit www.wildlife.ca.gov/hunter-education/advanced/ or contact Lt. Alan Gregory at (209) 274-9923.
