Attempted Murder Suspect Located in Modesto
May 12, 2026 – Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office officials report that on May 11, 2026, at approximately 8:30 a.m., deputies located
a suspect in the area of McHenry Avenue and Union Avenue in Modesto who had an active arrest warrant for attempted murder issued by the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Union Avenue, during which the suspect sustained injuries from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded to the scene and has assumed the investigation.
Traffic in the area of Union Avenue between McHenry Avenue and Cougar Place was impacted for several hours.
At this time, we are not confirming the suspect’s name until positive identification has been confirmed by the Coroner’s Office and next of kin notification has been completed.
