Escaped Inmate Apprehended 

May 21, 2026 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they responded to the escape of an inmate from Sheriff's Office custody at Kern Medical Center at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

The inmate, Vincent Xavier Deleon, age 45, had been transported to Kern Medical for a scheduled appointment when he fled custody.

Deputies initiated an immediate search of the surrounding area. Deleon was apprehended without incident in the 1800 block of Quincy Street at approximately 12:40 p.m.
