Prescribed Burn Planned for Eastern Madera County 

May 25, 2026 – Mariposa – The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will be conducting a prescribed burn in Eastern Madera County in June. Prescribed burns aim to reduce large conflagrative fires and high suppression costs to the citizens of California.

Highway 41 — The Highway 41 prescribed burn will start Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9 from 5:00 P.M. till 12:00 A.M. and will encompass the east side of Highway 41 from Avenue 15 to Road 200 in O'Neal's. Approximately 104 acres will be burned.

This project reduces the fire threat to unincorporated communities around Coarsegold, O'Neals, and Hidden Lakes, which are isolated residential areas located along the Highway 41 corridor.
