August 1, 2026 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report that shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Friday, someone working in the area of W. Shaw and N. Goldenrod Avenues, west of the town of Biola, reported finding a body in the nearby canal.

Deputies arrived and confirmed there was in fact a deceased man in the water.  Deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Dive Unit recovered the body of the man.

Deputies and personnel at the Coroner’s Office are now working to positively identify the man.

The circumstances of this death are unknown and this remains an ongoing investigation.
