Phone Scams Reported Throughout Stanislaus County

September 10, 2026 – Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office officials report recent uptick in reported phone scams.

Our office has received a significant number of reports regarding ongoing phone scams targeting residents throughout Stanislaus County. We encourage all residents to remain vigilant and take precautions to protect themselves, their families, and their personal information.

Scammers may impersonate law enforcement officers or other government officials and use threats of arrest, legal action, or other consequences to pressure victims into providing money or personal information.

Please be aware: Legitimate law enforcement agencies will never demand payment over the phone to avoid arrest or legal consequences.

If you receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer:

- Do not provide personal, banking, or financial information.

- Do not send or transfer money in response to the call.

- If you are unable to independently verify the caller's identity, hang up.

- If you have concerns about the legitimacy of the call, contact your local law enforcement agency using its official, non-emergency dispatch number, 209-525-7114.
