Highway Ramp Closures on State Routes 59 & 99 for September 27 - October 3, 2026 

September 26, 2026 – Merced County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will have traffic controls in place for the following construction and maintenance activities on State Route 59 (SR-59) and 99 in Merced County next week. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

State Route 59

  • One way traffic control at northbound and southbound SR-59 at Owens Creek for tree work on Thursday, October 1st, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

State Route 99

  • Full off ramp closure on SR-99 and East Atwater overpass for utility work on Tuesday, October 1st, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • One way traffic control on SR-99 and East Atwater Overpass on local cross street for utility from Monday, September 28, to Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
