September 28, 2026 – Amador County Sheriff's Office officials report that on September 25, 2026, one of our deputies conducted a traffic stop at the Buena Vista Saloon after observing a vehicle displaying license plates that did not belong to it.

During the initial contact, the deputy observed a debit card bearing a name that did not belong to any of the vehicle’s four occupants, along with several burglary tools in plain view. Deputies also observed multiple U.S. Postal Service mailbox master-keys attached to the vehicle’s ignition keychain.

Based on the circumstances of the stop, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. The search resulted in the discovery of dozens of pieces of mail, checkbooks and checks, bank cards, multiple USPS mailbox and P.O. Box keys, vehicle titles, a USPS uniform and mailbag, methamphetamine, and burglary tools, including a crowbar, bolt cutters, saws, and a vehicle unlocking tool.

During the investigation, deputies determined that one occupant initially provided her sister’s name instead of her own. A records check revealed she was on three separate counts of active out-of-county probation for identity-theft-related offenses. Another occupant was also found to be on felony probation for identity-theft-related offenses.

All four occupants were arrested on multiple felony charges and booked into the Amador County Jail. This investigation remains ongoing.
