100+ MPH. DUI. Two Children. A Handgun. And it all started with a speeding violation.

November 8, 2026 – Merced CHP officials report that Officer Partida stopped a driver traveling over 100 mph on State Route 59 north of Nevada Street. But excessive speed was only the beginning.

During the investigation, Officer Partida determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Two children were also inside the vehicle, and a handgun with 15-round magazines was discovered.

The driver was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI, speeding over 100 mph, child endangerment, and weapons-related violations.

One driver. Multiple dangerous decisions. Countless lives potentially at risk.

This is why traffic enforcement is about much more than writing tickets. It’s about identifying dangerous behavior and stopping it before someone gets hurt.
