Homicide 

March 28, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on March 25, 2024, at 12:05 a.m., deputies assigned to the Thermal Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 71000 block of Miramar Drive, Mecca, in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon. During their investigation, deputies located evidence of a shooting in the 99000 block of Via Costa Brava but did not locate a victim or suspect. Thermal Sheriff’s Station investigators assumed the investigation. As the investigation continued, information was developed that led investigators to locate a deceased male in the area of Sea View Way and 72^nd Avenue. This deceased male is believed to be connected to the original assault with a deadly weapon call.

Based on the circumstances, the scene was secured and the Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit was requested to respond to the scene where they assumed the investigation. The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time pending positive identification and notification to next-of-kin.
