April 8, 2024 - Placer County Sheriff's Office officials reposted the following:

City of Lincoln officials reported the following at 6:35 p.m. Sunday evening:

Shortly after 9:00 a.m. this morning, City of Lincoln Police Officers were dispatched to the Golden 1 Credit Union at 65 Lincoln Boulevard for reports of a burglary in progress.

Officers arrived on scene within minutes of the call and were able to establish a perimeter around the location. Upon gaining access to the bank, officers quickly discovered evidence of a break in but were unable to locate a suspect. Footage provided by Golden 1 Credit Union later in the investigation confirmed a suspect in the bank. The individual was seen wearing light blue jeans, a black sweatshirt, black beanie, and a ski mask.

With the assistance of the Rocklin Police Department and Placer County Sheriff’s Office, officers secured the shopping center location, including closing both Safeway and CVS in order to conduct a search of neighboring businesses. The Lincoln Police Department and Placer County Sheriff’s Office spent the next several hours searching the area for the suspect.

After the Lincoln Police Department cleared surrounding businesses, the Placer County Special Enforcement Team was called in to search the bank, including the roof and crawl area. Officers were unable to locate a suspect. It appears the suspect accessed the bank from the roof.

At this time, the burglary remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lincoln Police Department.

Update 2:40 pm: Officers remain on scene of an incident at the Safeway shopping center on Lincoln Blvd. Lincoln Police, with assistance from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, are searching for a suspect involved in the burglary of the Golden 1 Credit Union.

Safeway remains closed at this time. Please avoid the area while officers continue their search for the suspect.

Update 12:15 pm: Safeway on Lincoln Blvd. is closed for business and all customers have left the store. Officers remain on scene as the search for a possible commercial burglary suspect continues. Please avoid the area.

We are asking residents to avoid the area of Lincoln Boulevard near the Safeway shopping center. There is a heavy law enforcement presence as officers search for a possible commercial burglary suspect. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.
