SST LTRNovember 2, 2022 - How would you like hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal funding to come to Mariposa County for added help with fire mitigation and protection, needed homes, infrastructure, senior health, schools, our county sheriff, Fremont Hospital, county parks, transportation, water infrastructure, well improvement, and on and on? Sounds good?

Tom McClintock doesn’t want that for us. Not. One. Cent.

For the first time in over a decade, Members of Congress were able to request Community Project Funding (CPF) support for eligible nonprofits and state and local governments to support specific projects. CPF is subject to strict transparency rules, preventing use for personal financial interests. Under these new rules, the “bridge to nowhere,” Cunningham kickbacks, “Sparta Teapot,” or the ”Big Dig” would have been impossible.

But our “Representative” Tom McClintock has not requested any of this funding for our district. Why? Because he is living in some ideological past and he doesn’t care about our community.

Not only does Tom live in the past, he also lives in another congressional district. Tom McClintock benefits directly from CPF, because his Representative, Ami Bera, cares about his home community. Rep. Bera requested and received funding for his district in the amount of $3.76 million. Tom McClintock’s hometown alone received $520,000 for the Elk Grove Police Department Communications Center Renovation.

$3.76 million is money our fire-prone district and county could have used.

It’s time for Tom McClintock to go. Vote him out.
