May 3, 2024 - Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report Deputy Kirkpatrick was able to safely lasso up a cow stuck in a canal on Wednesday near Napa and Gale Avenues (between Huron and Coalinga).

A worker made the report after seeing the bovine struggling to stay afloat. Deputy Kirkpatrick, who is cross-trained in search and rescue, the mounted patrol and swift water rescue, put his skills to the test. With the assistance of other residents, he placed a rope around the cow and they were eventually able to pull the cow out of the water. The animal, which was tagged, was later returned to its owner.

Coincidentally, Deputy Kirkpatrick was one of those caught in a similar situation last year when he helped rescue a horse that had slipped into the Kings River. Watch at: https://bit.ly/3xZepX4
