April 19, 2024 - Mariposa - The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit (MMU) has announced effective at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 1 cal fire burn pileall hazard reduction burning will require a CAL FIRE burn permits in Mariposa and Madera Counties.

CAL FIRE burn permits are available online only by visiting burnpermit.fire.ca.gov.

Mariposa County:
Please contact Mariposa County Air Pollution Control District for information regarding Mariposa County burn permits.

Madera County:
Madera County Burn Day Information Line: 877-429-2876

Property owners conducting hazard reduction burning are responsible for checking the burn day status.

Citations will be issued for burning outside permit parameters.

Burning is limited to grasses, brush, down trees and limbs and dead, dry vegetation.

Residents burning outside permit parameters could be cited.

Hazard reduction guidelines are listed on the permit and must be followed at all times. For more information visit ReadyForWildfire.org or fire.ca.gov
