Veterans’ Celebration set for November 13 


November 6, 2021 - By Bill Lowe - Plans are all set for the celebration of our local Veterans on Saturday, November 13, 2021, beginning with the dedication of the Veterans’ Memorial at the historic Mariposa Courthouse from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. This event, sponsored by The Mariposa Rotary Club and The Lions Club, will offer free hotdogs and drinks to the public as part of the celebration.  

A few blocks away is another big Veteran’s celebration at the Mariposa County High School. From 12 noon to 5:00 P.M. members of the Miwuk Tribe will be cooking their famous Beverlyville Indian Tacos in front of the high school to the sounds of live music. Gail Dreifus will be singing from 12 noon - 1:00 P.M. followed by Tony Morrow from 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M.

The Rotary Club of Mariposa Yosemite is sponsoring the film “Veterans’ Unforgotten Memories” screening at 2:00 P.M., 4:30 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. in the high school auditorium. The film features 37 local veterans sharing their memories of being in the service from WWII to present day. Some of the stories are funny and some serious. 

All around town, local restaurants, such as, 1850, Don Rubens, Happy Burger, Pizza Factory and Savoury’s will be offering discounts when you submit your movie ticket stub on the same day.   

Tickets for the Screening are $10 at the Visitor Center, online at MariposaRotary.org (no service fee), and at the door while they last.
