June 14, 2021 - MORENO VALLEY, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) seeks public input on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS) for the Whitewater River Groundwater Replenishment Facility Project located in Riverside County. Publication of the Notice of Availability in the Federal Register initiates a 45-day public comment period.

The applicant, Coachella Valley Water District, seeks a right-of-way grant from the BLM for its existing groundwater replenishment facility in North Palm Springs which is partially located on BLM-managed public lands.

The proposed project supports President Biden’s goal to meet the urgent demands of the climate crisis by helping state and local agencies continue to manage critical groundwater supplies in the West for domestic, commercial, agricultural, and industrial users.

The BLM is the lead agency for the National Environmental Policy Act review. Information about the project and instructions for submitting a comment on the Draft EIS are available online at: https://go.usa.gov/x6KsM.
