July 2, 2021 - Merced – Merced PD Gang Officers locate a firearm on several gang members after they fled from a vehicle. On July 1st at approximately 8:34 P.M., Gang Unit Officer Lupian saw several 
known gang members in the 1000 block of West 2nd Street. As Officer Lupian attempted to contact the three subjects, they fled the area on foot.
Officers searched the area and located one suspect who is identified as 18-year-old Victor Salas. Officers developed information that another one of the suspects 22-year-old Lorenzo Flores was hiding near 8th Street and U Street. Officers were able to locate Flores and place him under arrest.
The vehicle that the three subjects fled from was found to have a firearm in it. These subjects were also in possession of a firearm holster and a police scanner. The third suspect has not been identified and is still outstanding. Flores and Salas were arrested for weapons charges due to their prior criminal history and gang enhancements.
