October 6, 2021 – The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office identified a deceased male found in the Delta Mendota as thirty-two-year-old Ahmadzai Mohabullah of Patterson. He was reported missing by family the night of October 4, 2021.

On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at about 10:00 A.M., deputies and personnel responded to the area of Ward Avenue and Marshall Road in Patterson for a water rescue. A San Luis & Delta Water Authority maintenance employee was working at the waterway, about one mile south of Marshall Road, when he observed an unresponsive person floating in the water. When first responders arrived at the scene, they determined the person to be deceased.

The Crimes Against Persons unit responded and took over the investigation. With the assistance of the Dive Team, the male was pulled from the water. Within a short time, investigators determined the male to be Mohabullah.

There are currently no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mohabullah’s death. However, his cause of death will not be determined until an autopsy is conducted.
