November 1, 2021 - On Sunday, at about 11:40 A.M., deputies responded to the 500 block of E Street in Empire for the report of an argument and the sound of gunshots. When they arrived, thirty-five-year-old Eduardo Barrios of Empire was located in the roadway next to a handgun and was detained.

With the help of witnesses, it was determined Barrios had been drinking alcohol and was in a verbal argument with two men outside of his home. When the two men left, Barrios grabbed a handgun and began walking down the street. He discharged the gun several times and was pointing it at passing cars.

Deputies searched Barrios’ house and located two rifles, in addition to the handgun. A total of four guns were seized in the incident. No person was struck, or property damaged in the incident.

Barrio was booked at the Public Safety Center for possession of illegal firearms and illegal discharge of a firearm.
