May 13, 2023 - San Bernardino County Sheriff Department officials report that on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 11:25 p.m., deputies at the West Valley Detention 
Center discovered an inmate hanging inside a cell. Deputies, along with jail medical staff, immediately provided medical treatment. The Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department also responded, and despite life-saving measures, the inmate was pronounced deceased.
Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division assumed the investigation which is ongoing.
The inmate was arrested by Montclair Police on April 11, 2023, for robbery. He was booked in at the West Valley Detention Center where he remained until his death.
