November 29, 2024 – HESPERIA, CA – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials announced the apprehension on Wednesday of a woman who walked away from the Female Community Reentry Program (FCRP) in Santa Fe Springs November 24, 2024.
At 3:10 p.m. on November 27, 2024, CDCR special agents took 34-year-old Christina Hammond into custody without incident in Hesperia, Calif. She will be rehoused in a higher security area at the California Institution for Women in Corona, Calif. and her case will be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for consideration of escape charges.
Hammond was received from San Bernardino County on July 10, 2023. She was sentenced five years for assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, with an enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury.
Since 1977, 99 percent of all people who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
