Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD)
January 15, 2025 – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that on January 11, 2025, at approximately 4:00 P.M. (1600 hours), an off-duty Police Officer assigned to West Traffic Division was inside his residence removing a personally owned and holstered pistol from his waistband when a Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge occurred. The bullet struck the officer in the rear right hip area. He was treated and released from a nearby hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.
No community members were injured as a result of this incident.
Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.
