Suspect Arrested for Criminal Threats 

March 19, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 3:05 p.m., deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station responded to the 50000 block of Paseo Cadiz, Coachella, regarding a family disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies identified Damian Ortiz, an 18-year-old resident of Coachella, as the suspect who made multiple threats to harm family members. Deputies attempted to contact Ortiz, but he refused to exit the residence. With the assistance of the Riverside Sheriff’s Crisis Negation Team, Ortiz ultimately surrendered without incident. Ortiz was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for criminal threats. 

A search warrant was served at the residence where deputies located several firearms, ammunition and two airsoft pistols. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available.
