Update - Lemon Grove Homicide
April 19, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on April 15, 2025, at about 9:05 p.m., deputies from the Lemon Grove Station responded to the 7800 block of Broadway in the city of Lemon Grove, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon their arrival, they discovered one adult male victim, in his twenties, suffering from traumatic injuries. Medical aid was provided, and the victim was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Julio Orozco Cabrera.
Deputies detained the suspect at the location of the crime. The suspect was identified as 59-year-old Marvin Lester Sears, an acquaintance of the decedent. Sheriff's Homicide detectives are conducting an investigation, interviewing witnesses, and gathering more evidence. At this stage of the investigation, the motivation and circumstances of the crime are still under investigation. Based on information gathered so far, this appears to be an isolated incident. There are no outstanding suspects and no apparent danger to the community.
