Deputies Investigate Work Release Inmate after Receiving Multiple Alerts from His Ankle Monitor, He is Arrested on New Charges
April 25, 2025 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that over the past two weeks, Deputy Ramirez received numerous curfew violation alerts from Electronic Confinement Program (ECP) inmate Daniel Carranza's ankle monitor. Deputy Ramirez initiated an investigation related to the violation alerts and discovered Carranza was leaving his residence during restricted house arrest hours throughout the night. With the assistance of Deputy Patella and Probation Officer Ting, Deputy Ramirez coordinated a compliance and probation check at Carranza's residence.
During the compliance check, Carranza was found to be in possession of 139 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 60 rounds of .308 ammunition, 10-30 round capacity AR15 magazines, 1 Glock extended pistol magazine loaded with 31 9mm rounds, and one single pistol magazine. Carranza was arrested for PC 30305 (a)(1), Felon in Possession of Ammunition and PC 1203.2 (a) Probation Violation.
Carranza was sentenced to the Work Release ECP Program by the courts on March 26, 2025, for his conviction of PC 25850 Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors authorizes the Sheriff to administer a work release program. While providing manual labor to improve or maintain public facilities, inmates may re-establish ties with their family, return to work with their previous employers, while serving the community on their non-scheduled workdays. Inmates who have been sentenced to Work Release by the courts also have the option of participating in Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center's ECP. It is the duty of the Work Release Division to ensure that all commitments are held accountable to all California State Laws while participating in the program to provide safety and security for the community.
