Patrol Sergeant Delivers Baby in Meridian

September 14, 2025 – Sutter County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Saturday morning, at approximately 10:15 a.m., Sutter County Sheriff's Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a mother in active labor at a residence on the 1100 block of 3rd Street in Meridian.

Sergeant Jeff Kohler, who was nearby, quickly responded to the residence. When he arrived, the mother was already on the phone with the Yuba City Police Department's Dispatch, receiving emergency medical instructions. With guidance from dispatch, Sergeant Kohler assisted the mother through the birthing process, and the baby was successfully delivered at 10:31 a.m.

Medical personnel soon arrived, assessed both mother and child, and transported them to Adventist Health Rideout. We are pleased to share that both the mother and baby are healthy and doing well.

Outstanding job Sergeant Kohler!

Thank you YCPD dispatch for assisting!
