Domestic Disturbance Call Ends in Lethal Force Encounter in Phelan 

September 30, 2025 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Thursday, September 25, San Bernardino County Sheriff logo2025, at about 9:01 p.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Phelan. Anthony Perez was reportedly intoxicated and began damaging property inside the home he shared with his ex-wife and children.  

When the first deputy arrived, Perez armed himself with a weapon. Perez ignored multiple commands to put the weapon down and advanced toward the deputy. A lethal force encounter (LFE) occurred. Perez was not struck and retreated into the residence. The deputy again gave Perez commands to surrender. Perez later exited the home and was arrested by deputies. No injuries were reported, and Perez was taken into custody.  

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation, which is ongoing.
