October 3, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 10:52 p.m., deputies from the Thermal Sheriff's Station conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Dillon Road and Landfill Road, in the unincorporated area known as Indio Hills. 

During the investigation, deputies located two handguns, ammunition, and methamphetamine. The driver, identified as Ayala Bodella, a 34-year-old resident of Coachella, was arrested and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for weapon-related charges and possession of drugs for sale.
