Investigation into San Diego Sheriff's Office Officer-Involved-Shooting 

November 7, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Wednesday, November 5, san diego county sheriff department logo2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m. an officer-involved shooting (OIS) occurred on the 1700 block of Kyrsten Terrace Ct. in Alpine, California. The OIS incident involved personnel from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office and unfortunately resulted in the death of one individual. Following the officer-involved shooting, it was subsequently determined that the handgun that was pointed at deputies was a replica firearm.

The San Diego Sheriff's Office will be releasing Body Worn Camera footage and a Critical Incident Video in the coming days with details of the shooting.

Thursday the California Department of Justice (DOJ), pursuant to Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), announced that it is investigating and will independently review this officer-involved shooting (OIS).

Following notification by local authorities, DOJ’s California Police Shooting Investigation Team initiated an investigation in accordance with AB 1506 mandates. Upon completion of the investigation, it will be turned over to DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division for independent review.
