January 20, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on January 14, 2026, deputies from the Thermal riverside county sheriff logoSheriff’s Station Rural Crime Team began investigating a series of thefts targeting cosmetic and makeup merchandise.

During the investigation, deputies determined that over $6,000 in cosmetic items were stolen from the 42000 block of Washington Street in Bermuda Dunes. The suspects were identified as Davonna Pierce, a 24-year-old resident of Perris, and Dominique Thornton, a 25-year-old resident of El Monte. Deputies also identified the vehicle used and four additional thefts at nearby pharmacies, resulting in an estimated additional loss of $12,000. The suspects are believed to be part of a larger organized retail theft operation.

On January 16, 2026, with the assistance of the Thermal Station’s District Team, Coachella Valley Narcotics Task Force, Coachella Community Action Team, and Union Pacific Railroad Police, the suspect vehicle was located in the Los Angeles area, where both suspects were taken into custody without incident.

Thornton and Pierce were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on multiple charges, including grand theft, organized retail theft, theft with prior convictions, conspiracy, and accessory to a crime. Both suspects received bail enhancements and bail holds.
