High-Country Health Food and Cafe in Mariposa California

January 21, 2026 – Yuba City, CA – Sutter County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on January 18, 2026, Sutter County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the area of South Walton Avenue and Richland Road in Yuba City.

While patrolling the area, a deputy heard approximately four to five gunshots. Additional deputies responded to conduct an area check and reported hearing further gunshots. Dispatch also received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired, with callers identifying potential victims.

During the investigation, deputies contacted occupants of two vehicles parked in front of a residence in the 1600 block of Stoker Avenue. Deputies observed fresh shell casings near one of the vehicles. A consent search of the vehicle was conducted, and additional shell casings matching those found outside were located inside. A presumptive gunshot residue (GSR) test indicated the presence of GSR on the driver’s hand, 46-year-old Rosendo Ramirez.

A total of seven .40-caliber shell casings were recovered in and around the vehicle, consistent with the number of gunshots deputies reported hearing. No firearm was initially located in either of the vehicles and no injuries were reported.

Based on the evidence gathered, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence. During the search, deputies located a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .40-caliber firearm with an empty magazine and the slide locked back. A box of .40-caliber ammunition matching the casings was also found inside the residence.

Ramirez was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Sutter County Jail on charges including negligent discharge of a firearm and additional firearm-related offenses.

Great job B-Nights!!
