Retail Theft Crackdown 

January 22, 2026 – Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office officials report that detectives from our High Impact Team conducted a blitz operation this month at Target on Silver Creek Road in San Jose.

The results:

- 11 arrests

- Nearly $1,100 in stolen merchandise recovered

- Several suspects had prior theft convictions

Detectives witnessed individuals bypassing payment systems and walking out with food, beer, personal care items, and medicine.

In one case, three suspects were stopped in their car after stealing miscellaneous items. Inside, deputies discovered:

- Ghost gun

- Ammunition

- Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia

All suspects were booked into the Main Jail.

Retail theft will NOT be tolerated in Santa Clara County.
