Keeping Our Jails Safe 

January 28, 2026 – Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office officials report that since the start of the year, deputies have stopped six drug smuggling attempts at Santa Clara County jail facilities.

At Elmwood Correctional Complex alone, deputies seized nearly 400 grams of methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, tobacco, and other contraband worth more than $16,000. Our K9 Unit played a key role in these searches.

These efforts protect staff, incarcerated individuals, and our community. Proactive security checks and our team's attentiveness are essential to preventing dangerous situations.
