January 30, 2026 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on January 26, 2026, Carlos Reid was arrested by the Ventura VCSO child sex crimes ReidCounty Sheriff’s Office for various child crimes.

In April 2023, detectives with the East County Sexual Assault Unit began an investigation into Carlos Reid for allegations of various sexual offenses against a minor. The victim reported that when he was a juvenile, he was befriended by Reid in the city of Agoura.  Reid groomed the victim over time gaining his trust. Reid eventually convinced the juvenile to participate in various sexual acts in the city of Thousand Oaks and have those acts recorded. Reid subsequently used those recordings and posted them to online platforms for financial gain.

In the month of December 2025, Thousand Oaks detectives authored a search warrant for various social media platforms associated with Reid that resulted in discovery and seizure of evidence linking Reid to the suspected crimes.  Detectives subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for Reid for the listed charges: PC 236.1(c)(1) - Causing a Minor to Engage in Commercial Sex Acts, PC 311.4(b) - Using a Minor for Commercial Sex Acts, PC 286(b)(1) - Sodomy of a Person Under the Age of 18, PC 311.1(a) - Possession of Child Pornography with Intent to Distribute, and PC 311.11(a) - Possession of Child Pornography

On January 26, 2026, Reid was contacted by Thousand Oaks patrol deputies at a local motel in Newbury Park and arrested for the outstanding arrest warrant.  

Reid was transported and booked into custody at the Pre-trial Detention Facility in Ventura. Reid bail was set at $100,000 and Reid’s next court date in Ventura Superior Court is scheduled for January 29th, 2026.
