Main Jail Inmate Death 

February 11, 2026 – Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office officials report that at approximately 6:00 P.M. on Friday, February 6, 2026, a 40-year-old male inmate housed at the Sacramento County Main Jail was found by Deputies suffering from what appeared to be a seizure.

Sacramento Fire personnel arrived on scene and transported the inmate to a local area hospital. On the evening of Sunday, February 8, 2026, while still admitted at the hospital, the inmate underwent surgery but was unfortunately pronounced deceased later that night.

The Sheriff’s Office will complete a thorough inmate death investigation in accordance with department procedures and state laws. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death and forward its findings as prescribed by law. The Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased per their protocols.
