April 4, 2026 – Modoc County Sheriff's Office officials report that on April 1, 2026, Modoc County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the unincorporated town of Canby in Modoc County. The stop resulted in the seizure of approximately half a pound of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 1 gram of suspected fentanyl, and a firearm.

A subsequent search warrant at a residence linked to the suspects led to the discovery of additional suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Tracy Tavernetti (54) and Dennis Marcott (53), both residents of Modoc County, were arrested for sales and transportation of controlled substances and for being a prohibited persons in possession of a firearm.
