Fatal Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision Kills Pedestrian 

April 13, 2026 – Winnetka, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that the (LAPD) Valley Traffic Detectives (VTD) are investigating a hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a male pedestrian on the roadway.

On April 10, 2026, around 9:55 p.m., a black Chevy Camaro traveling southbound on Winnetka Avenue collided with a male pedestrian crossing outside of a marked crosswalk at Winnetka Avenue and Sherman Way. As the pedestrian was lying on the roadway, he was struck by a second vehicle described as a white Ford truck. Both drivers fled the scene without stopping to render aid and identify themselves as required by law. Detectives recovered vehicle parts at the scene that may assist in identifying the suspect vehicles.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the male pedestrian to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His name is being withheld pending identification and notification to next of kin.

VTD Detectives are urging the public to come forward with information regarding this fatal hit-and-run. Anyone who witnessed the collision or was in the area at the time is asked to contact VTD Detectives with any information.

Motorists are reminded that if they are involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
