Fatal Collision in San Marcos
April 22, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist 
in San Marcos is under investigation.
On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at about 12:11 p.m., deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff's Station responded to reports of a collision in the 1900 block of W. San Marcos Blvd.
Upon arrival, deputies learned the collision occurred between a white Lexus SUV and a 78-year-old male bicyclist riding a regular bicycle. The bicyclist was found in the westbound lanes of W. San Marcos Boulevard.
Deputies and paramedics provided life-saving measures at the scene; however, the bicyclist was pronounced deceased at 12:26 p.m.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor in this collision.
