June 17, 2026 – Imperial County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Saturday June 13, 2026, deputies assigned to the Winterhaven Sub-Station conducted a bicycle stop on a male subject for a traffic violation. A consensual search of the male subject, who was later identified as Matias Nieto (46), revealed he was in possession of (6) small black baggies of approximately 1.0 grams of suspected meth each. Nieto was arrested and search incident to arrest was conducted. The search unveiled he was in possession of (3) clear plastic bags of suspected meth, weighing 30 grams, 25 grams and 4.5 grams. Nieto was also in possession of a self-built meth pipe and 22 grams of marijuana.

An interview was conducted by Deputies, and it was concluded that Nieto was in possession of meth for sales. A Criminal History Record was conducted on Nieto with the assistance of ICSO Dispatchers which showed prior narcotics convictions. Nieto was transported to the Imperial County Jail where he was booked for Possession of Narcotics with Priors, Possession for Sales, Transportation of Narcotics, Possession of Meth, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
