July 6, 2026 – Sacramento County Sheriff's Office officials report that at about 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, the Communications Center received a call stating that 4-5 people were near the intersection of El Mercado Drive and Chettenham Drive in the City of Rancho Cordova, where an argument appeared to be underway. When Deputies arrived, they located two injured adult males. Deputies requested the Fire Department, as they provided immediate medical aid to the subjects. Fire arrived on scene, and one adult male with what appeared to be a stab wound was pronounced deceased. The other adult male suffered from a laceration to the head and was transported to the hospital.

Several other people were in the area at the time of the incident and will be interviewed. Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) and Homicide Detectives are investigating.
