July 6, 2026 – Sacramento County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at about 3:30 P.M., our Communications Center received a call for a welfare check at an apartment in the 7400 block of Holworthy Way. When deputies arrived, there was no answer at the door. Finding the door unlocked, deputies entered the apartment and located a deceased adult female. Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) and Homicide Detectives responded to the scene.

Based on witness statements, detectives identified the suspect as 35-year-old Salvador Villalaz. Villalaz was arrested without incident and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. He is ineligible for bail and his next scheduled court date is July 7, 2026, at 1:30 P.M.
