Suspicious Injury Investigation in Encinitas 

July 6, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Saturday, July 4, 2026, fire personnel and paramedics responded to a residence in the 1000 block of C Street in Encinitas, where an 85‑year‑old woman was found unresponsive inside her home. She was transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.

While being treated at the hospital, medical staff discovered injuries they believed were suspicious in nature and notified law enforcement. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the woman’s condition declined.

Given the circumstances and the need to determine how the woman sustained her injuries, the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.
