July 24, 2026 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that in mid-July, a Crimes Against Person’s Detectives began 
working on a case involving 41-year-old Lloyd Cecil Gary Jr. of Sacramento. He began chatting online with what he believed was a 13-year-old girl. During the investigation Gary told the teen he wanted to engage in sexual relations with the child and requested nude images of her.
On Monday, July 20, Gary traveled to West Roseville to meet with the person he believed was a 13-year-old girl. Before the meeting, he instructed her to disable the tracking services on her phone.
Special Operations Detectives watched as Gary traveled to the meeting location, with support from members of the Placer County Special Investigations Unit and the Placer County Regional Auto Theft Taskforce. Once Gary arrived in the area, the Sheriff's Office UAS team continued monitoring him from above.
Multiple deputies then moved in and arrested Gary. Just before his arrest, Gary tried to destroy evidence by smashing his cell phone. His efforts were likely unsuccessful. Our newly created Cyber Crimes Unit will likely be able to repair the phone and recover data from the phone.
Detectives also searched Gary's vehicle and found that he had brought alcohol and marijuana to the meeting.
Gary has an extensive criminal history that includes felony convictions for illegal firearm possession, pimping and pandering, trafficking a minor, and narcotics offenses. He was also previously required to register as a sex offender.
Gary is currently being held at the South Placer Jail on $460,000 bail. He is facing charges of attempted lewd and lascivious acts with a child, communicating with a minor for the purpose of committing an unlawful offense, meeting with a minor to engage in a lewd act, and attempting to furnish a minor with marijuana.
