SDPD Officer-Involved Shooting 

July 30, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that the Homicide Unit is investigating an san diego county sheriff department logoofficer‑involved shooting that occurred on the morning of July 29, 2026, in the 3600 block of Beyer Blvd. in the City of San Diego.

At approximately 7:05 a.m., a San Diego Police Department officer located a stolen vehicle driving within an apartment complex. The vehicle drove in the direction of the officer, resulting in an officer‑involved shooting. A passenger inside the vehicle was struck. Additional officers arrived, provided immediate medical aid, and requested paramedics. The injured passenger was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non‑life‑threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was detained pending further investigation.

No San Diego Police Department officers were injured during the incident.

Per the Countywide Memorandum of Understanding, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is conducting the investigation into the officer‑involved shooting. At this stage, the motivation and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. Detectives are collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing all aspects of the event.

The investigative and review process for officer‑involved shootings is thorough and multi‑layered. Once the Homicide Unit completes its investigation, the case will be submitted to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office for review to determine whether any criminal liability exists. The San Diego Police Department will also conduct an administrative review of the officer’s discharge of the firearm.
