August 4, 2026 – Imperial County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday July 30, 2026, Imperial County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Winterhaven Sub-Station conducted a traffic stop on a male and female subject for multiple vehicle violations. During the investigation the driver denied consent to search the vehicle. The assistance of Customs and Border Protection was requested for a narcotics K-9 unit. The CBP K-9 unit later advised deputies of a positive alert on the vehicle to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed over 53 lbs. of suspected fentanyl, suspected methamphetamine and suspected cocaine which has a street value of over $700,000 dollars.
A Criminal History Record was conducted on both subjects revealed multiple prior narcotics convictions. Both subjects were booked into the Imperial County Jail for possession of a controlled substance for sales, transportation of a controlled substance and possession of controlled substance with priors.
